Introduction#

Hullo! I’m Chris, a software engineer making his living in the scenic Pacific Northwest. Recently, I made the decision to change both my phone number as well as to abandon the GMail account I’ve had for over 20 years and replace it with one that isn’t plastered all over the dark web. Since this is a big undertaking, I’ve created this blog to document how I went about changing everything as well as any pitfalls I’ve run into in the hopes that this information will be useful to others.

A few things to be aware of:

1. As of this writing, I have not procured a new phone number yet as I do not plan to get a new number until the end of December 2025.
2. While I’ve created a couple of new GMail accounts, they are not considered “active” yet. This will happen once I get a new phone number.
3. Do not expect much content here until after I get a new cell phone number since that is when I will start migrating various services.
4. I will be writing about the why’s and wherefore’s of me making this change in future posts. Be patient.
